Brighton is probably our favourite place in the UK, and where we would be living if money was no object. We got engaged there, and despite only being there four times, it feels like home.
So the day after our wedding, we packed up the car and drove down to Brighton, stopping on the way of course for our first Starbucks as Mrs & Mrs!
We stayed at The Grand, probably the most iconic hotel on Brighton's seafront, which has recently been refurbished - when we looked on their website, the rooms were so much our taste that they influenced our decision of hotel! (We love interior design, and nice hotels - sold!)
The Grand kindly upgraded our room, which was absolutely beautiful, and kindly left us a card, strawberries, chocolates, and a bottle of champagne on ice. This honeymoon business isn't bad!
That evening we revisited a restaurant we went to during our engagement weekend about two and a half years ago, Sri Lankan restaurant Moonstone. Our first 'date' as a married couple, although we were tired from the long drive it was lovely to sit, have a glass of wine and some good food, and to stop and think 'wow, I'm your wife now!'
When we got back to the hotel, we opened our champagne, and spent the evening opening our many wedding cards and presents, and reading all the entries in our wedding guest book. It was such a lovely way of going back over our wedding day memories, and seeing all the lovely messages that people had written. It's one of our favourite honeymoon memories!
After our beautiful mini moon in Brighton, it was time to drive to our airport hotel in Gatwick. Again they had left a card and some chocolate dipped strawberries, and had even left a swan towel and rose petals on our bed!
We spent the evening relaxing, as we had to be up early the next morning, so used the excuse for a cup of tea, and a couple of slices of our wedding cake we had saved. Some of the best evenings we have just need the two of us, and tea!
After that, it was time for an early night, as we had a plane to catch the next morning - in our pink and grey converse/Victorias secret/Mrs & Mrs tops of course!
